What does the price of powder coating depend on?
The price of powder coating is not a fixed amount — it is determined by several factors together. In this article we present the most important cost-influencing factors and show you how to calculate in advance.
1. Size and surface area of the workpiece
The basis of powder coating pricing is the size of the surface to be coated (m²). The larger the surface, the more powder coating and oven time the job requires.
Tip: If you want an accurate quote, measure the length, width and height of the workpiece and provide these figures with your quote request.
2. Need for pre-treatment
The type and extent of pre-treatment significantly affects the price:

3. Colour and surface type
- Standard RAL colours: base price
- Special colours (metallic, pearl): +15–30% surcharge
- Structured surface: usually the same price as smooth
- Outdoor polyester coating: +10–15% over indoor epoxy pricing

4. Quantity
Series production always results in better per-piece prices than one-off jobs. This is because the preparation of the oven and the colour setup happens once, after which production runs continuously.
5. Size and utilisation of the oven
Our oven is 7 metres long, 1.3 metres wide and 2.3 metres high. Curing takes place at 180–200°C, which involves significant energy costs. That is why for smaller orders we wait until enough work has accumulated for economical operation.
